Aigght, so this is the first post in a long time that I don’t have to say ‘it’s been a while guys’ lol. Niceties done now let’s get to it.
I posted a pic of one of my girl crushes last year in a previous post and this weekend I had the chance to take pictures galore of this babe. Phwoaar, she’s a hottie!
Before I go crazy with the pics let’s talk shooting and post processing.
Shooting: The actual day was good, I feel I had my head in the game especially since I was shooting from before the event. I used my 35mm F2, 17-40mm F4 (surprisingly very good!) and my trusty Yongnuo 565ex. I knew for group shots and wide angles I would have to use my 17-40mm otherwise it would be impossible to get a everything in and I was dreading it; in the past using this lens indoors meant losing bokeh (which I love!) and underexposed pics (because I hate having to bump up ISO past 800). This would always be a pain when it came to editing because as I’ve found, post processing (in Lightroom anyway) can’t do much for a terrible picture. However this time the results were quite pleasant! I did have ISO on auto mode tbf but it didn’t go too high.
So at the end of the day I felt almost satisfied; the lighting was mostly good but creativity wise I felt below average tbh. I didn’t feel I had achieved any fantastic angles, just decent ones.
Post Processing: When the time came for editing now, I say come and see stress! What I saw on my LCD screen and what I was seeing in my import were completely different. I felt so deflated 🙁 But I was determined to do right (I had to anyway I was the key photographer for the night!). Long story short, I did end up with a nice set of pics overall and improved on my presets so it was a great learning curve (literally haha because of the Tone Curves! Made a joke without realising). I’m still learning and have a long way to go before I’ll be truly happy with my skill.
Enough jabber though, here come the pics!
