Recently had the great honour of shooting a friend’s 30th birthday, yeeeehaaaar!
You know how I said I didn’t enjoy event photography and then I started enjoying it because I thought I’d learnt a lot? Yah well I went back to the deer – headlights stage 🙁
I was shooting with my two DSLRs (ha! surprise new addition to the family – Canon 5D; yet to be named. Full frame baybaaay) for the first time which was just nifty 😀 Of course, it doesn’t matter how much kit you have, when it comes down to it all that matters is having the eye to see and being able to capture exactly what you see. With so much going on at this event I must say I struggled. Don’t get me wrong I think the pictures were okay in the end but who wants to settle for okay???! I love the feeling of having a challenge and conquering it. I love the feeling of capturing an event and feeling excited to edit because I achieved something creatively that I hadn’t before. That didn’t really happen to me this time but I must say when I looked back at the pictures I couldn’t stop smiling because there were good memories attached to each moment that had been captured and that in itself is still a great achievement.
And now…on to the pictures!
